Pearl specialises in criminal defence and represents clients in a wide range of criminal cases, including violence, family harm, dishonesty, driving,  drugs and parole matters. Pearl appears regularly in the District and High Courts in Auckland.

Pearl was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court in 2019. Pearl began her legal career as an employed barrister at Augusta Chambers (formerly Blackstone Chambers) for Emma Priest before joining the independent defence bar in 2025. She has worked alongside Ms Priest on jury trials and appeals involving murder, sexual violence, organised crime and serious drug charges. Pearl has appeared as junior counsel in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
